Recent events, shoots and happenings...
April 2011: Well, we had a first on our photo shoot this weekend. We knew from our scouting that we would be sharing the location with a herd of cows, but we didin't know that they would want to be so intimately involved in the production!
Jan 2011: I just finished the first few shots in a series of figure studies. Paige and Bridget were great models, very open to exploring the interplay of light, form and vulnerability.
November 2010: We have finally published our book Small Stories. I worked with writer Chuck Holmes, and it was truly an experience! Chuck selected images of mine that he felt told a story in and of themselves, and then wrote the small story that he saw in the image. It was fascinating to see how another person interpreted my images when they do not have the experience of the shoot to inform their impressions.
September 2010: Just completed 2 book covers for Crown Publishing - 15th century historical fiction about Lucrezia Borgia. It was a lot of fun, but a lot of production work. Custom made costumes, hair pieces, and jewelry. Laura at Crown was great to work with, and I think the final covers look fantastic.
August 2010: Shooting the cover for Double Take was a fun project for Baker Books. We used the same model to be "identical strangers" in this light hearted cover, and Leslie did a great job. The wardrobe for the modern rich girl look was easy to source in comparison to finding authentic Amish clothing and how to wear it!
August 2010: I had the pleasure last fall of being a guest lecturer at Kudzu Art Zone in Norcross. The topic was Inspirations. I am very passionate about my shoots, and it was gratifying to speak to other artists who understand what it is to create from the heart and have them respond so well to my images.
July 2010: I was truly honored to be featured in an article in Photo Technique Magazine about my project "Before the Curtain", documenting the backstage life of the Atlanta Ballet.
April 2010: Had a fantastic time shooting the cover for "Angel Sister" for Baker Books! Lindsay and Anna Cate were great to work with. This was Anna Cate's first real job as a talent, and we were all amazed at how eager and responsive and energetic she was. I never expected to get over 2 hours of solid shooting from a 5 year old! Lindsay is a natural with kids, and she made it seem as if the two of them really were sisters. Thanks to Andrea reading the manuscript ahead of time, she was able to help set up scenarios that worked perfectly with the story and location.
